It has been a bit quiet round these parts lately, and for that I apologise. August turned out to be rather busy for the GnR household! At the beginning of the month, after a wonderful 4 years, I finally packed my bags and left my beloved Brighton behind. The boy and I have both landed new jobs and it was time for a little change. It has been a month of packing, re-packing and unpacking. It has been a month of eating out and settling in. It has been a month of DIY and countless trips to B&Q. And it's been a long time since I sat down to put together a post so I thought what better way to jump into things than a little update?

HOME

In the whirlwind that was our move me and the boy had a grand total of 24 hours to choose a new place to live. This meant that there was a little bit of work to do when we got here. First up- getting rid of the bright orange feature wall. I cannot express how much this wall upset me. I now know a lot more about paint than I did when I started. I also know that a lot of people seem to have very strong opinions about how to best paint a wall. But I am proud to say my living room now boasts a much less offensive two coats of 'chic shadow'.

One of the best things about moving out of Brighton (as much as I do love it) was the opportunity to get a place that was bigger than a broom cupboard. Turns out the farther west you go the more you

get for your money. Who knew? Anyway, a bigger place means room for new furniture... which means trips to IKEA! Honestly, I cannot tell you how at home I feel in homeware stores. Cue squeals of excitement from me and noticeable groans from the boy every time we set off to Southampton.  I am now the proud owner of a rug, a floor lamp, a TV stand and matching bedside tables. I feel that this finally qualifies me as a proper adult. I'd go as far as to say that am now a more adultier adult than I was before. As a rug owner I should be bestowed a certificate I can look at when I'm feeling lost in the world that says 'You're an Adult now. You own cream high pile'. Next on the agenda...curtains. Watch this space.

BEAUTY

Beauty has taken a bit of a back seat this past month. My makeup has pretty much stayed the same and there have been very few new additions. I did manage to shave my legs and glam up for a night out this weekend but that is the most effort I've put in far longer than I care to admit. Interestingly enough, I did manage to discover on that same night that if you spray a whole can of texturising

spray into your hair, walk 15 mins home in the pouring rain and then tie your tangled mane in a knot for two days... you will end up with dreadlocks. It took me well over 30 minutes to get rid of those last night, but I digress. When I haven't been sporting a bird's nest hair do, here are a few things I've been using religiously and pining after in equal measures.
