April has come to end and I can't decide if this means that it's the height of spring or the end of spring. Back in the homeland, it lasts all of three days, so I've never quite got to grips with the season. Regardless, my confused self has compiled my favourite spring additions all in one succinct post:

THE BASE

Spring is all about having the perfect glowing base. You want to look fresh and healthy (any time of the year really, but especially come spring). I think if you really take your time perfecting your base any other makeup you slap on top tends to look pretty good. I like to pop a drop of oil in my daily moisturiser to help revive the dull winter skin. My go to at the moment is the Pai Rosehip Oil (£20), full review here. And to really amp up the glow I like to go in with an illuminating primer. I've raved about this enough times  (mainly here) so I won't go on about it again, but my primer of choice is the Le Blanc de Chanel (£31). Skin prepped, my favourite spring base is the Laura Mercier Tinted Moituriser (£33.50). It's sheer and illuminating but has just enough coverage to hide any unforgiving winter skin that might still be lingering around.

THE COLOUR

Base ready, my favourite spring colour has to be peach. I love peach. Cheeks-wise my go to is MAC's Powder Blush (£18) in Style. It's the most beautiful peach colour in a frost finish and the subtle shimmer offers the perfect flush to make you look a little bit more alive. Lips-wise I am usually all for the bolds, but if there is such a thing as the perfect time to try a neutral lip... it's spring. My go to neutral lip of the moment has been a blotted layer of the YSL Rouge Volupte (£24.50) in 1 Nude Beige, with a coat of the Maybelline Colour Sensational Gloss (£6.19), review here, in Glorious Grapefruit over the top.

THE FINISHING TOUCHES

If I have a little extra time I like to add a dab of the MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque (£15) to the tops of my cheek bones as a highlight, and some Rimmel Scandal Eyes Liner in Nude (£3.99) through my waterline to perk things up. And if I really have time I go all out and do the nails. It's a really good day when the nails get done. Lately I've been going for pastels, my favourite is the Topshop Nails in Parma Violet (£5).

That rounds up my picks for spring. It's only a matter of time till I'm watching the weather trying to figure out if it's safe to start cracking out the summer products. Can you tell I struggle getting my head round this whole seasons business?
